One of the most popular choices for cell phone wallpapers are images of pets and loved ones. Intricately created works of art, from classic paintings to abstract works with images of blended colors and unusual shapes meshed together are also popular cell phone wallpapers.

A cell phone ringtone was key to finding an accused cop killer in St. Louis, Missouri. During a trial for the suspect, who was charged with gunning down University City Police Sgt. Mike King on Halloween night in 2008, his cell-phone was revealed as evidence. A few hours after King was killed, officers searched the crime scene for the cell phone.

The suspects' fiancee had told them earlier that the phone had a very distinctive ringtone and a photo of her as the screen saver. The officers found the phone near an abandoned building not far from where King was shot. Authorities recognized the ringtone – The Black Sheep's "You Can Get With This", and the photo, which was enough evidence to arrest the suspect a few days later near Kansas City.
